So it turns out that after failing the first gestational diabetes test, I had to do a 3 hour blood test to see if I had a problem with digesting sugar. I went in on a Saturday and had blood taken 4 times. The good part is I had no problem with them taking blood and I actually didn't mind the sugar drink that you have to take. The results came back and it turns out that, according to the doctor, I "eked past" the test. What that meant in normal speak is that only one of my levels was elevated (two levels actually need to be elevated to have full fledged gestational diabetes). But I am borderline and do have to cut the sugar out of the diet and basically eat very, very healthy - lower carbs, very low sugar and high protein and fiber. I think it's a blessing in disguise because there is really no choice. This is for our baby.
Eating healthy doesn't mean not gaining weight - in fact I still am at a regular clip. The new photo should show that the belly is officially here. Only to stay for 10 more weeks! Can't believe how fast the time has gone!! I am still pretty comfortable - sleeping well (only getting up once or twice at most and falling right back to sleep) and still getting to work out at an okay pace. This is really just walking, elliptical, prenatal yoga and a little weight lifting, but it definitely helps!
I look forward to seeing how much my body continues to change in the next couple months!
